Sun, sand, surf and trails.
Ducked up the coast over the school holidays with the family to Port Stephens, staying right on the water at Shoal Bay. A lovely part of the world, it was so nice to get away for a week.
Drove up on the friday and went straight to the visitors centre where I picked up a beaut book on the local bush walking scene. Every day was like a new adventure, I would pick out a trail the night before and hit it the next morning, up before the kids got out of bed and back in time for breakfast. Managed to explore most the the Tomaree Peninsula, highlights included a climb up Mount Stephens at the end of a long run which afforded wonderful views out over the entire peninsula from Tomaree Head to the Stockton beach sand dunes to Newcastle.
Another day I ran from Shoal Bay down to Fingal Bay and crossed the "spit" at low tide to Point Stephens, following a fire trail to the far side of the island where there is a sandstone lighthouse built in 1862. Lots of singletrack stuff too hugging the ocean at the southern end to Anna Bay and Samurai beach.
Sunday 23rd- 25km(2:25) Shoal Bay to Salamander Bay return via Mt Stephens.
Monday 24th- 13km(1:20) Shoal Bay to Fingal Bay and Point Stephens return.
Tuesday 25th- 10km-(48:24) Hilly tempo run thru Nelson bay and Corlette return.
Wednesday 26th- 20km (1:41) Shoal Bay to Salamander Bay return .
Thursday 27th -9.5km (42:52) Tempo run to Fingal Beach return.
Friday 28th- 16.8km (1:35) Bush and trails to Fingal Bay and Rocky Island return
Saturday 29th- Swimming
Sunday 30th- 28km (2:39) Shoal Bay to Salamander Bay return with run along Tomaree Head and back up Mt Stephens return.
Total-97km.
Today- Back at work and back to the usual runs, a bit depressing after the novelty last week.
College recovery run 10km in 50 minutes.
Wish I knew how to post photos here, got some cool screen grabs from Google, can anyone help?

Sounds like a fantastic holiday Spud. I'm envious :-)
All you have to do if you have the pic on your PC is: in blogger when you are creating or editing a post click on the picture icon - it's the furthest icon on the right where the b and i icons are.
From there it is just a matter of select size (use large) browse for the pic on your c-drive and away you go... you will need to cut and past the html to where you want it in your text as it always defaults to the top.
Good luck ;-)
