Quarry Road

Back to the track for a couple of laps in the rain. Nice and early start 5.50am with a couple of cars parked on the Dural Side already. I was hoping to run with a few others but figured they'd left already, so I dropped the esky and drinks off beside the car and set off. Not long after the bridge on the Stewart Ave climb a shitload of runners came thundering down the hill. The usual suspects and quite a few Striders too. Great to see the trail so alive with runners. I returned to the Dural gate in 1.13 for the first lap, quite pleased to be right on the money with times from last year. A quick drink top up and off for the second lap. Again bumping into several others, Sparkie was flying doing just one lap with Barney not far behind. Superflake and Sportsman were flying too looking strong.
Then there was 2P, Kevin, Bandanna, R2B, Allison Lilley and Belinda to name a few.
Go Girl, Martin and Jen Runs were running together with a fair smattering of Hills District runners too, it was chockers!
Ran most of the ups except for the return from the loo up to the Dural end (which has been resealed), where I slowed to a walk. Still managed to get back to the gate in 1.14 for the second lap giving me 2.27 for the 26km. Happy with that, legs were feeling it on the second lap, feet were soaked and mascerated from the rain but held up ok, more skinectomies later. Great to catch up with Horrie and Sparkie at the Stewart Ave end and then Kevin, 2P and Bandanna at the Dural end. Oh and whoever it was that generously gave us some banana cake at the end, thank you, delicious!
