Southern Highlands Pub To Pub Fatass Run 45km

Decided to head down to the southern highlands for this fatass run from the Jeremy Moss pub in Moss Vale to the Friendly Inn in Kangaroo Valley.
A good mix of fire trails and bitumen with a few creek crossings and plenty of hills to keep you honest. A typical fatass turnout of a dozen or so runners, 8 of which decided to do the full 45km option, with the rest running the 25kms from Meryla Pass in Mortion National Park to the finish. It was a warm start at 9am, I trotted along with Tim, we would end up running the whole way together. Navigation is quite easy and once on Meryla Rd, the bitumen soon turns to dirt trail. A steady climb to the pass where a water drop was very welcome. This part of the course is used during the Fitzroy Falls Trail Marathon. After a quick refill a steep descent along Griffins Fire Trail bottoming out at Crankey's Creek. A rather pretty shaded creek crossing in freezing cold water, we stopped briefly to cool off. The climb out of the creek is the steepest on the run, levelling out not far from Jack's Corner Rd where we turned and headed for Kangaroo Valley. The trail switches back to an undulating bitumen road taking us through to a very satisfying finish at the pub. We hung around for a good 2hrs plus re-hydrating as the rest of the field arrived. A nice way to spend a Saturday morning (and afternoon) , thanks to Amigo (Lindsay) for organising this one.
